7.31.215 – Mascara Love Affair

You had me at mascara

I feel so naked with out mascara, I love when I finish my make up, put on my mascara and I just feel like my whole look is just pulled together. Today I’m going to tell you all about my favorite mascara’s both high end and from the drug store, plus a bonus item to help with get a little extra somethin’ somethin’ from your lashes!

Mascara Curler

I always start with a Mascara Curler! I can not skip this step or it makes me feel like a crazy person!

L'Oreal Butterfly Waterproof

This is my current favorite mascara, I’ve gone through 2 tubes! L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly in Blackest Black Waterproof formula. I love the wand, it makes it so easy to get into the inner corner as well was flipping out the lashes in your outer corner.

I always use waterproof mascara because I notice that when I don’t I have more flack offs. Also, my eyes are a little on the watery side so I was getting a lot of rub off and by noon I didn’t look like I had any mascara on my bottom lashes!

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Waterproof

This is an oldy but a goody, Maybelline Lash Stiletto. This is my favorite mascara for my bottom lashes, the narrow and lets you have a lot of control.

CK One Color Mascara True BlackThe first time I tried the CK One Color Mascara, in True Black was as an Ulta Platinum birthday present… I honestly didn’t really care for it at first. But, I grabbed it a couple of months later and fell in love with it. I think at first it was a little too watery, but once it thickened up a little it was perfect. This mascara is very unique because you get a 2 in one wand. You can twist the end and it will become a smaller fluffier wand or extended it’s a longer more narrow wand which I love for my bottom lashes. It’s the best of both worlds.

Tarte Lights Camera Splashes Mascara

I have gone through so many of these mascaras and I just love them! Tarte– Lights, Camera, Splashes. It’s such a great formula, very build-able. Perfect everyday mascara.

Miss Manga Mascara

This one is a FAIL product for me… I know a lot of people really like the L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga… but I did NOT like the wand… it was TOO flexible for me, I didn’t feel like I had any control of it, I couldn’t tease my lashes at all because if I just barely moved my hand the wand was all over the place. The formula may be great but I didn’t get to use it long enough to find out. This will go in my, give to friends, pile!

It Cosmetics TightlineOk, this is my bonus product! This product started my love affair with IT Cosmetics. This is the IT Tightline… This stuff is incredible. The wand is super tiny but it’s basically a little teasing brush for your lashes, with amazing magic potion inside. You apply this before your mascara and it allows you to make your lashes so voluminous.  I will also go back with this wand after I’ve applied my mascara if I have any clumping. Because of how tiny it is, it always me to really separate my lashes.

New Product (to me)

Lash Sensational Maybelline

I just picked up the Maybelline Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect mascara and so far I’m liking it. Still haven’t used it enough to say that it’s great or that I would recommend it. But, so far… so good! I’ll keep you posted.

Well friends, that’s all I have today. What are your favorite mascaras? Do you have any tricks?

7.29.2015 – Why Can’t Hair Fix Itself?

crazy hair

Ok, Confession… I love makeup, but I hate fixing my hair! So, these are the everyday products I grab that make it less work and as quick as possible.

Bed Head Tourmaline Ceramic Dryer

First, not very exciting is my Bed Head blow dryer… I’m really not picky about my blow dryer. I will probably splurge a little more next time only because I want one with a better warranty. I have really thick hair and I tend to wear out blow dryers faster than the average person it seems.

Remington New Diamond Shine Flat Iron

Remington Ceramic Flat Iron, this is actually the 2nd one I’ve purchased I really like it. They’re super affordable. Light weight for traveling, locks closed so it doesn’t get messed up in my suitcase. I will also use this to do loose curls, my hair doesn’t like to hold curls too well but this seems to do a pretty good job.

Original Instyler

This is the Original Instyler, this does a really good job at a “fake” blow out. I will run this through sections of my hair, then take the same section and wrap it around the barrel for a few seconds of spin. This gives a similar effect of blow drying with a round brush with out the pain and embarrassment of getting tangled in the brush… That hasn’t happened to anyone else? Just me… Ok…

Not Your Mothers Lock Luster Argon Oil Treatment

Any type of Argan Oil is great for taming frizz. I will separate my hair at the crown when I blow dry, applying about a dime size to the lower section… then dry. Then apply the same amount the the upper section, then dry. I’ve noticed a big difference. This product is Not Your Mother’s brand, but I’ve tried several kinds and they’re all really comparable this is just the one I’m using at the moment.

Got 2B Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm

Heat protection for your hair is SO important. This will help your hair stay healthy with all of the heat treatments we use on a day to day. I just spray a few pumps through my hair and go… I find that if I spray each individual piece of hair as I straighten or curl it, 1. who has time for that? and 2. it leaves my hair feeling dirty/oily. This one is from got 2b, Guardian Angel. Very affordable and works up to 425 degree’s.Pantene ProV Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo

Last but not least, dry shampoo! This one is my current obsession, Pantene Pro-V Blowout Extend. It smells amazing, doesn’t leave a white cast on my brunette hair, absorbs the oils, and gives great volume. I try to go every other day washing my hair, I know a lot of people try to go longer than that but this is progress for me. But if it wasn’t for this, I wouldn’t be able to! Highly recommend grabbing a bottle, it’s supper affordable.

Well friends, that’s all I’ve got. I wear my hair straight 99.9% of the time just because it’s easy and effortless for me. These are the products I use on an regular basis and are tried and true! What are your favorites? Anything I should try? Until next time…

7.27.2015 -Influenster July VoxBox

This was my very first Influenster experience, so when I received this bright yellow box I was extremely excited! I always love trying new things and getting the chance to tell you guys about the hits and misses is always a plus. So lets jump right in…

Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturize in Aloe Soothe, I love aloe lotions… my skin really enjoys them and the scent is so clean and doesn’t over power my perfume. The spray is really nice and makes it really easy to not over apply.  (Full Size)

Dickinson’s Refreshing clean Cleansing Cloths, I actually have not tried these just yet. I still have a few of my “Say yes to… blueberries” ones but they are next in line! Also included in this month’s VoxBox were 3 coupons’s for $3 off of these cleansing cloths. (Full Size)

Infusium 23 Moisture Replenisher with Avocado & Olive Oil, This product was OK for me, it didn’t WOW me but it’s something I would use but probably wouldn’t purchase. (Travel Size)

Blue Diamond Almonds in Sriracha, these were really yummy. I was worried they were going to be too spicy but they were just enough flavor with a little kick. I would definitely pick these up! (Snack Size/Gas Station Size)

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Real Teal, (not pictured) sorry I had already taken it out of the box! This color is very pretty not really a color I would pick but… I am also not a big paint my nails at home kind of girl… I am TERRIBLE at it actually so I normally only have my nails painted if I go get them done at a salon. But I did give this to my cousin who was really excited about it! (Full Size)

There was also a coupon for Barkthins which I will be giving to my aunt because she loves those and I’m not really a huge fan of them! All in all I would give this box an A because I’m really excited about the face clothes and I love the aloe moisturizer.

Well friends, I really hope that I get to do things like this more in the future, huge thank you to Influenster for sending this to me! Until next time…

7.24.2015 – All About The Brushes

good makeup

Today, it’s all about the BRUSHES! I used to think, a brush was a brush. Boy was I wrong. It wasn’t until I discovered Mrs. Jaclyn Hill that I found out a good make-up brush could make all the difference in the world. So here are some of my favorites.

Sigma F80

Oh, I know that this is a cult classic anymore but it’s just so good! The Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki. It makes applying your foundation so effortless.

Real Techniques Powder Brush

Real Techniques Powder Brush is amazing. It doesn’t shed all over your face, it’s a great price and cleans up great.

Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush Real Techniques Shading Brush

Both of these are my EVERYDAY eye shadow brushes, I do have others that I use when I’m doing high pigments but these two are my absolutely favorites. Sigma E40 Blending Brush, and the Real Techniques Shading Brush.

Real Techniques Setting Brush-Highlight

Lastly, for highlight I use the Real Techniques highlighting brush to lightly dust on my favorite highlight (Currently obessed with Champagne Pop by Becca).

Well friends, that’s all! I do you other brushes but they’re pretty interchangeable for me. These are the few that I always reach for and if they’re dirty or drying I can tell a change in my makeup application. (I think that means I need to break down and buy duplicates.) What are your must have brushes? Until next time…

7.23.2015 – May Designs Review & GIVEAWAY

May Designs

I fell in love with May Designs earlier this year when I ordered my very first one! They have the most unique and beautiful designs and styles of agendas, notebooks, stationary, coloring books, etc.

I ordered one back in February for my personal planner and it has been in my purse ever since. I use it to organize my LIFE! When i started blogging and getting more serious about it I realized that I wanted to order a separate one to organize my ideas and thoughts for An Oklahoma Girl. They have so many designs to choose from, that’s the hardest part… PICKING! They are canvas covers, stitched together with such great quality that even being thrown around in my purse it’s still in great shape!

First, I’ll show you my original personal planner. I went for a January-December monthly style with the dotted back pages for list making. For my every day life, being that I’m not a student this works perfectly.

Now, when I was looking at the different options on ordering my “blogging planner” I wanted something a little different. I went with more of an agenda style, monthly pages but also the weekly breakdown for my brain storming and list making. (I’m a big time list maker.) This also left the back pages with lines for more list making, perfect for the organizer in me!

These Paper Mate Flair pens are my favorite for writing in my planner. They are colorful, and write really well.

7.22.2015 – First Aid Beauty Review

A few weeks ago I decided to grab a couple First Aid Beauty “travel size” sample bottles when I was going through Sephora. I’ve been wanting to try these for some time now but didn’t want to commit the money to a full size product.

Now, this review is just my opinion for my skin so please know that everyone is different and everyone’s opinion may be different.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

I purchased both the Ultra Repair Cream, and the Face Cleanser and used them together for a couple of weeks. My skin is combination-oily and I found that neither product really suited me.

The cleanser worked well enough, but didn’t leave me feeling overly refreshed and for the price point of the full size bottle for me isn’t worth it.

The moisturizer was a little heavy and I wasn’t sure going into using it if that would be the case or not with the name of the product alone but I thought I’d give it a shot anyone with so many beauty lovers out there speaking so highly of it.

Over all, I don’t see myself purchasing the full size of either products. Now, that’s not to say that I wouldn’t be open to trying some other First Aid Beauty products that might be better suited for my skin in the future. These both have just been so raved about in the last year or so that I was really interested in how they worked. I’m glad I gave them a try, but for me I’ll stick to my Philosophy Purity and my Origins Ginzing when I want to splurge.

Well friends, that’s all I have today! What are your splurge skin care items? Until next time…

7.20.2015 – Shopping Haul / Review

Shopping Haul

So in the last week-ish I’ve been doing a little shopping, mostly at Ulta… aside from my Milani shadows that are to-die-for… I’ve also bought a few random bits and pieces.

Dr. Brandt Needles No More

I received this Dr. Brandt – Needles No More sample with my purchases at Ulta this week. I haven’t tried it, but i’m intrigued. I’ve never tried any Dr. Brandt products before.

AG Use Love Care

I was needing some Hair spray and this AG extra firm finishing spray also donates a percentage of every sale towards Breast Cancer Research. So far I’m really liking the hold in the Oklahoma humidity.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion

The only products from The Body Shop that I’ve ever used are their body butters, so when I noticed the skin care display I decided to grab the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion. I really like the way it feels on my skin, it does have a very strong tea tree smell when you’re applying it but I don’t notice that it lingers past a few seconds.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear CC Cream

Ok… I am on the hunt for a drug store CC cream that compares to my tried and true It Cosmetics CC+. I’ve really liked Physicians Formula concealer in the past so I thought I would give this Organic CC Cream a try. The consistency is similar to my It CC+ but it’ll take a little more trial before I know if it is comparable.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal

I got caught in the sample size section of the check out line! I swear, sometimes I think that’s why they make you wait so long!! But, I do love getting the smaller sizes of things before buying the full size of high end products especially. So I thought I’d pick up this It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Taupe pencil. What can I say, I’m a sucker for It Cosmetic products! So far I’m loving it. It’s really easy to apply, and the spooly on the end makes managing your brows (especially for a brow-beginner) really easy!

Butter Balm Aurora Butter Balm Rapunzel

Right now, Ulta is having a sale on some of their Ulta brand products (These were $3 each!). These Ulta Butter Balms are comparable to the NYX Butter Glosses. They have great pigment, not to sticky, and apply really easy. The 1st one is Aurora (My personal favorite), and 2nd is Rapunzel. How cute is that? They’re all named after Disney Princesses! My inner child may have came out a little. I didn’t even realize the names until I got home or I would have most definitely have purchased Ariel!

Love & Toast Candied Citron

I have eyed the Love & Toast products at Ulta so many times. Smelled the fragrances, tried the lotions, etc. But when I noticed a few products in the clearance section I knew I had to get one. I grabbed the roller ball of the Candied Citron, which smells so yummy. I thought it would be great to keep in my bag to touch ups during the day if I ever feel like my perfume has worn off or if I’m running somewhere straight after work and just need to refresh.

Lastly, I just grabbed some cotton rounds which is unexciting but necessary! Well friends, that’s all I have today! What are some of your recent finds, any deals, or things you think I should try? Any suggestions on upcoming posts or reviews?  Until next time…

7.17.2015 – Milani Gel Powder Eye Shadows

Milani Shadows

For the last few years I’ve loved the Milani Baked Blushes, but lately I’ve seen people talk about their Gel Powder Eye Shadows. I’ve also found myself eyeing them in the store. So, I thought I’d grab them and see if they were as good as my holy-grail Luminoso blush is.

They have a beautiful range of colors, from very neutral to very bold. I do tend to stay in the neutral range but wanted to try a few of their bolder shades… if nothing else I was very curious about their pigment payout.

These swatches are all after just a couple of swirls in the pod. Pigment payout=very pleased! I found the price to be anywhere from $3.90-$4.50 depending on the store, which is a great price compared to the higher end palettes you’ll find with similar neutral colors. I’ve even found myself grabbing some of the neutral colors in the morning and their lasting power after 9-10 hours is impressive. Here are the shades that I picked up in order of swatches…

Bella Espresso

Bella Espresso

Bella Sand

Bella Sand

Bella Rose

Bella Rose (It is not NEARLY as pink as in this picture… it’s more of a champagne pink. Very pretty and girly)

Bella Champagne

Bella Navy

Bella Caffe

Belle Cafe (So far, my favorite)

Bella Teal

Bella Violet

Bella Violet

I’m really excited to try some of these bolder shades and see what eye looks I can come up with! Should be fun!! So far, I would say I definitely recommend. Great pigment, good lasting wear, and nice price point!

Well friends, that’s all I have this week! Until next time…

7.15.2015 – Relaxing Nighttime Routine

Relaxing Night Routine

This week, I had a case of the MONDAY’S! So I came home and had a relaxing semi- pamper night. Nothing over the top, but wanted to treat myself.

Island Margarita

I always start almost every evening by lighting my favorite seasonal candle, right now it is the Island Margarita from Bath and Body Works. Such a clean smell for the summertime.

Yes to...

Then I will go ahead and take off my make-up using a “Say Yes To…”, I usually buy the cucumber version… but this time I decided to try the blueberry. I’m really liking the smell, it’s very light and fresh.

I love doing face masks when I’m having a relaxing night in, on this night I decided to try the Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment for the first time. This mask smells amazing, it is a bit pricey, but I did buy the smallest tub ($19) from Sephora. I have more affordable masks that I really enjoy, but I thought it would be a nice treat occasionally after a long day. Plus, I wanted to see what all the hype was about!

While my mask is on I like to either read a book, magazine, or watch Netflix. Right now I’m in the 7th season of Grey’s Anatomy! Loving it, and I’ll have either a nice cup of tea, or a glass of wine.

Well friends, that’s my relaxing, semi-pamper evening. Sometimes after a long day, I don’t even have the energy to go through a whole paper routine but I still want a little something extra. What are yours? What should I try next time? Anyone else having a case of the Monday’s this week? Until next time…
