7.29.2015 – Why Can’t Hair Fix Itself?

crazy hair

Ok, Confession… I love makeup, but I hate fixing my hair! So, these are the everyday products I grab that make it less work and as quick as possible.

Bed Head Tourmaline Ceramic Dryer

First, not very exciting is my Bed Head blow dryer… I’m really not picky about my blow dryer. I will probably splurge a little more next time only because I want one with a better warranty. I have really thick hair and I tend to wear out blow dryers faster than the average person it seems.

Remington New Diamond Shine Flat Iron

Remington Ceramic Flat Iron, this is actually the 2nd one I’ve purchased I really like it. They’re super affordable. Light weight for traveling, locks closed so it doesn’t get messed up in my suitcase. I will also use this to do loose curls, my hair doesn’t like to hold curls too well but this seems to do a pretty good job.

Original Instyler

This is the Original Instyler, this does a really good job at a “fake” blow out. I will run this through sections of my hair, then take the same section and wrap it around the barrel for a few seconds of spin. This gives a similar effect of blow drying with a round brush with out the pain and embarrassment of getting tangled in the brush… That hasn’t happened to anyone else? Just me… Ok…

Not Your Mothers Lock Luster Argon Oil Treatment

Any type of Argan Oil is great for taming frizz. I will separate my hair at the crown when I blow dry, applying about a dime size to the lower section… then dry. Then apply the same amount the the upper section, then dry. I’ve noticed a big difference. This product is Not Your Mother’s brand, but I’ve tried several kinds and they’re all really comparable this is just the one I’m using at the moment.

Got 2B Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm

Heat protection for your hair is SO important. This will help your hair stay healthy with all of the heat treatments we use on a day to day. I just spray a few pumps through my hair and go… I find that if I spray each individual piece of hair as I straighten or curl it, 1. who has time for that? and 2. it leaves my hair feeling dirty/oily. This one is from got 2b, Guardian Angel. Very affordable and works up to 425 degree’s.Pantene ProV Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo

Last but not least, dry shampoo! This one is my current obsession, Pantene Pro-V Blowout Extend. It smells amazing, doesn’t leave a white cast on my brunette hair, absorbs the oils, and gives great volume. I try to go every other day washing my hair, I know a lot of people try to go longer than that but this is progress for me. But if it wasn’t for this, I wouldn’t be able to! Highly recommend grabbing a bottle, it’s supper affordable.

hair

Well friends, that’s all I’ve got. I wear my hair straight 99.9% of the time just because it’s easy and effortless for me. These are the products I use on an regular basis and are tried and true! What are your favorites? Anything I should try? Until next time…

From one thick-haired girl to the next, you are so right: why can’t hair just fix itself? I was blessed/curved with naturally wavy hair which in the winter is a cinch to do as I can just get out of the shower, add some mousee, and go (except I get those wonderful wet-head in the snow colds monthly.) However, in the summer and in Michigan’s humidity… forget it! Natural or straightened, my hair frizzes to no end! I will definitely be grabbing some Argan Oil and trying it out this weekend! Nothing is more frustrating than taking an hour to straighten your hair and then walking outside and having it afro. Thanks for the suggestion! -A

Do it! This one is really affordable, I got it at target for like $5 I believe. I’ve tried so many other products that claim to tame frizz and they’re in my cabinet half used because they were giant FAILS in my book.

My hair is naturally kinked, but not in a cute way… in a uhhh what’s wrong with her… kind of way! But, I’m going to try some sea salt spray and see if it does anything or if my hair is too think an weighed down. Maybe that will be a quick solution for days that I’m running late! 🙂
